Fall has arrived, and with it comes the irresistible urge to cozy up with something warm, buttery, and straight from the oven. Whether it’s a croissant that flakes just right, a loaf of sourdough with the perfect chew, or a seasonal pumpkin pastry, Denver’s bakery scene is brimming with temptations. To help narrow down the choices, we asked our team at RE/MAX of Cherry Creek to dish on their favorite local spots for baked goods.
Malisa Eakins points to TOUS le JOURS (multiple locations) as a top pick and Katy Ayers of the Bridge Team echoes this, saying, “From the crispy, warm savories to the sweet chocolate eclairs, decadent cakes, and full-service coffee bar, this unique bakery is one you won’t want to miss. My favorite: an almond croissant with an iced strawberry latte. Yum!”
Kate Baldin Wenzel of The Elevated Team sings the praises of Blue Hummingbird (Four Square Mile), formerly known as Deby’s Gluten Free Bakery. “Their loaves of fresh baked, gluten-free bread are some of the very best. Or, go for their chocolate cake donuts if you’re craving something sweet,” she says.
Le Belle French Bakery (multiple locations) is Amanda Maxwell’s pick as a must-try for almond croissants. “I love the fluffy pastry and the sweet filling. They also offer a variety of other croissants, savory breakfast options, salads and traditional French baguette sandwiches. This little place also has great coffees, espressos and drink options. There are several tables for dine in or take your favorite snacks to go!”
Eddie Lederman of Lederman Locations likes to go to Leven Deli (Golden Triangle) after a visit to the art museum. “I head there for a delicious sandwich, and I always take home a sourdough round. They are opening another location downtown!”
“Reunion Bread Bakery at the Source Hotel (RiNo) is an amazing South American inspired spot,” says Christine Dupont-Patz. “They have a great selection of items on rotation, the Churro Croissant with a dulce leche filling is one of my favorites.”
And, Matthew Tapper strongly recommends Trompeau Bakery (Englewood and Downtown Denver). “Everything is made from scratch, and it reminds me of eating parties in France. My favorite is the Pain aux Raisin, but the other pastries and quiches are 10/10.”
No matter your pastry preference—whether you lean sweet, savory, or somewhere in between—Denver’s bakeries make it easy to enjoy the season one bite at a time. So, grab your favorite fall sweater, pick up a treat (or three), and taste your way through the city’s ovens. Let me/us know if you have a favorite sweet spot—I’d/we’d love to try it!
