When it comes to home buying, younger shoppers differ from older shoppers on many fronts. That’s a fact recently underscored by the National Association of Realtors Survey of Generational Trends for 2013. Among its findings, the survey reported that younger buyers:
.
– Generally bought homes within 10 miles of their previous residence, while older buyers moved more than 20 miles.
.
– Were more likely to purchase in the city, while older buyers were more likely to move out of the state or region.
.
– Chose a neighborhood for convenience to jobs, better affordability and quality schools, while older buyers looked for proximity to health care facilities and family and friends.
.
– Found the home they purchased through the Internet, while older buyers learned about their home through their real estate agent.
.
– Made more concessions in buying a home, including price and home size, lot size, etc, while older buyers generally made no concessions.
.
