Some people flock to their favorite coffee shops in the morning. Others prefer to head out at night for cocktails and conversation.
The good news is that now you can find both in the same location. They’re called all-day café bars: “somewhere that’s open from morning to night, with both caffeine and booze on the menu,” explains 5280 magazine.
The Denver-metro area boasts a plethora of choices with ambiance fit for millennials and boomers alike. Among 5280’s favorites:
Hudson Hill and The Wild: These two venues on Capitol Hill “offer sophisticated yet casual settings in which to sip a cortado or a glass of red while nibbling on snacky bites or pastries,” notes the magazine. The Wild has a patio for patrons to enjoy their choices while soaking up the sun. Hudson Hill: 619 E. 13th Ave; The Wild, 1660 Wynkoop St, Unit 100.
The Molecule Effect: If you’re looking for activity to go with your libations, this is the place. The Molecule Effect offers everything from trivia night to drag bingo to live music. In addition to coffee drinks, wines, beers and cocktails, patrons can order breakfast burritos, flatbreads and sandwiches. 300 S. Logan St., Unit 100
Hello Darling: By day, order tasty coffee, pastries and breakfast burritos. By night, try a classic cocktail or glass of wine and a charcuterie board. “Can’t decide?” says 5280. “Get the best of both worlds with a carajillo, a popular Spanish drink that spikes hot coffee with liqueur.” 1620 Little Raven St., Unit 110
The Radiator: Located in the space formerly occupied by Common Grounds, this spot — named for a radiator business that once operated here — allows patrons to hang out as long as they like, enjoying “fresh-made bagel sandwiches” in the morning and salads, paninis and drinks in the evening. 2139 W. 44th Ave.
Side Pony: You’ll find healthy options here like avocado toast and breakfast parfaits, as well as indulgences, including pastries, and an “affogato and honey butter waffle.” 5280 also urges patrons to try the “fig-infused daiquiri, a belly-warming twist on the classic.” 4635 W. Colfax Ave., Unit 100.
