It’s time for the weekend! Take a look at our picks below for the first weekend of November:
Saturday 11/1
Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at the Botanic Gardens from 9AM-2PM. Wear your costumes and take part in the activities to celebrate this Mexican holiday that recognizes death as a natural part of life’s cycle. Find out more here about its history and to see more of what the Gardens will be doing on the day by visiting their website.
If you have dogs – or just love friendly canines – head to Puppy Up! Denver Walk and Festival for a 2 mile walk to raise funds and awareness for canine cancer. Taking place in Stapleton Central Park from 8AM-2:45PM, the event will have art, music, food and vendors, and of course – lots of doggies! Check out their website for more information and registration details.
It’s the last weekend to enjoy The Big Wonderful! It’s a fantastic event that takes place at Sustainability Park and hosts lawn games, food trucks, beer, vendors, music, and more. Bring your dogs, grab a drink at the tiki bar, and enjoy the beautiful weather that is expected. It’s open from 11AM to dusk, and admission is free. Check out more information here.
Sunday 11/2
After you sleep in an extra hour because of daylight savings, head to the 11th annual Denver Gorilla Run at City Park. In partnership with the Denver Zoo, this event is quite unique in that participants wear a full gorilla costume on the run, and it helps raise funds for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. It will be fun and hilarious, with an after party and a costume contest for the most creative gorilla. The best part? The gorilla suits are provided and are yours to keep! Their website offers more details.
If you’re looking for something special to do at night, head to Chihuly Nights at the Botanic Garden through November 30th. From 5:30-8PM you can see the beautiful Chihuly exhibition all lit up as the sun is setting earlier these days. The artwork is illuminated and provides a magical experience. Purchase tickets at their website.
