If you think Denver home prices are high…check out Nantucket’s

Housing prices in Denver can seem off the charts—that is, until you compare them to other places. Contrasted with Nantucket, for example, Denver is a virtual home buyers’ paradise.

A recent article in the New York Times titled “What you get for $800,000” offered readers a peak at what sort of home that money will buy across the country. On Nantucket, it will apparently get you a one-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage as big as your average concession stand.

In fact, it was previously just that: a small stand that sold sodas and candy.

In other words, to say that it’s small is an understatement. And it’s not necessarily a little “gem” either. The home has no granite kitchen counters – just chipped and cracked tile. No stainless steel appliances, but an old white oven/cooktop.  No large master bedroom; instead, it has a room so small you can lay in the middle of the bed and practically touch both walls.

On a good note, the bathroom includes a shower. Hey, even owners of $800,000-plus homes need to freshen up every now and then.
