Harvey Park

About Harvey Park

If you’re looking for an affordable neighborhood that retains its old-Denver charm—look no further than Harvey Park. Tucked between Federal and Sheridan Boulevards and bounded by West Yale and West Jewell Avenues, this is an enclave of mostly modest brick ranch homes that become larger as you move west toward Sheridan. Hidden among these well-maintained homes are true architectural gems: mid-century modern houses designed by architect Cliff May, the man who originated the ‘50s California ranch-style home. This design was “so well-thought-out,” one Harvey Park homeowner noted, that several original buyers were young architects. Residents enjoy the neighborhood’s quiet ambiance, as well as the park that takes its name, with its two lakes, rec center, playground and sports facilities. Bear Creek Park is also nearby. Prices in Harvey Park are still largely in the $300,000s and $400,000s, while the same house elsewhere in Denver would be $500,000 and better. A few scrape-offs may foretell what’s to come, but for now, Harvey Park remains an affordable place to find great architecture: surely one of Denver’s best-kept secrets.
