Start off on the right foot in your new home

Buying a home is such an incredible experience, and moving in is even better. You get to settle into the home you have been working hard to purchase, starting your new life and creating new memories in a place you can call your own. While unpacking and customizing your new space can take time (arranging wall hangings, setting up where all of your furniture goes…there is a lot to do upon arrival!), there are a few simple tricks outlined in the RE/MAX blog that will make your home feel a little bit more complete in the first few days.

Window treatments make a big difference – hang up some gorgeous curtains, blinds or shutters and control the amount of light that comes in while adding some personal style with your design selection. Along the same line, get a sense for where lighting is needed, perhaps in darker corners where you may need light stands or a unique lamp. Also consider finding energy efficient appliances and make sure all of the easy repairs are done – like leaky faucets and dirty fixtures, leaving these pesky items off of your to-do list for the future. And last but certainly not least, get a deep clean. When your home is empty it is the prime time to wipe away that old dust, making room for your new set up!
