Today’s Tip: Leave grass longer to prevent your lawn from burning

Everyone likes the look of a nicely trimmed lawn. But mowing your lawn too short can harm the grass’s health. According to Family Handyman, “a common mistake people make with their lawn is thinking they have to mow all the time and stop the grass from getting too tall.” Cutting things too close robs “the grass of its food source: grass blades. Taller grass also shades the ground, slowing weed growth and water loss from the soil,” as well as keeping the grass from developing dead patches. To keep your grass looking robust in the heat, experts generally recommend leaving your it 2-1/2 to 3 inches long.
