The NAHB recently polled builders about features they were most likely to include in a new single family home. Among their findings:

Laminate countertops in the kitchen
Two-story family rooms
Media rooms
Whirlpools in the master bathroom
Carpeting on the main level

What’s in?

9-foot ceilings or more on the first floor
Great room (kitchen-family room-living room)
Laundry room
Energy-star rated appliances
Low-e windows
Energy-star rated windows
Programmable thermostats
Walk-in closet in the master bedroom
Two-car garages
Granite countertops in the kitchen
