Once upon a time, outdoor kitchens were all the rage in new homes. Now, you can throw that notion into that outdoor kitchen sink, along with other outdated amenities. According to the National Association of Home Builders, today’s buyers have different priorities.
The NAHB recently polled builders about features they were most likely to include in a new single family home. Among their findings:
Laminate countertops in the kitchen
Two-story family rooms
Whirlpools in the master bathroom
Carpeting on the main level
9-foot ceilings or more on the first floor
Great room (kitchen-family room-living room)
Energy-star rated appliances
Energy-star rated windows
Walk-in closet in the master bedroom
Granite countertops in the kitchen
