Name: Obi

Owner: Kate Baldwin Wenzel

How’d you come up with his name: Our kids were really into Shakespeare when we adopted Obi, so his formal name is Oberon, King of the Fairies.

Nicknames: Obi, Obes, Bear

Breed: Husky German Shepherd mix

Gender: Male

Age: 10 ½

Favorite toys: Anything that squeaks!

Likes: Cuddling, walking, riding in the car, swimming in his pool in the backyard, patrolling the yard and talking to the neighbor dogs.

Dislikes: Nothing! Obi loves everyone and everything!

Most happy when: He’s exploring outside or cuddling with his girls

How did you end up deciding to get Obi? Our daughter was volunteering with her 5th grade teacher’s rescue. The teacher asked if we could help unload the puppies from the van, and it was love at first sight. Obi didn’t even make it into the adoption event, he came home with us immediately!

Can he do any tricks? If so, what’s your favorite? Nope, nada.

What’s his favorite food? He’s a bit particular, but he loves cheese and avocado.

How would you describe Obi’s personality? Loving and hilarious. He makes us laugh all the time, and goes out of his way to love on everyone.

What’s your favorite part about him? His big heart.

What’s the naughtiest thing Obi has ever done? He used to get into the trash a TON when we first adopted him. We put a lock on the cupboard but that didn’t stop him – he managed to eat two chicken carcasses (on two separate occasions) but was totally fine!

What is his favorite spot in your home? On his bed near the front door, or on the couch.

What’s the best memory you have of him? He and our first Dane Charles were the very best of friends and brothers. We have some really amazing memories of them playing, cuddling, and loving each other. He was by Charles’ side when we

What’s your favorite thing to do with Obi? Snuggle

What’s the most rewarding part about being a pet owner? When we first adopted Obi, he was very solitary. He didn’t interact much or spend a lot of time with the family – he had lived the first two years of his life alone on a reservation in Southern Colorado. So watching Obi grow and become comfortable with our family then turn into such a lover has been really rewarding.
