Tackling a home improvement project can be nerve-racking – what if you pick the wrong tool, the wrong paint, or (worst of all) have the wrong measurements? Luckily, Retail Dive discovered that Lowe’s and Home Depot have just launched AI-powered assistants to help take the guesswork out of your next DIY endeavor.
Lowe’s introduced Mylow, an AI adviser available to rewards’ members online, with voice capabilities coming soon. It’s designed to answer home improvement questions in an easy-to-understand way, recommend products, and even offer maintenance suggestions based on your needs. Lowe’s says, “Customers can now ‘ask Mylow’ home improvement questions with real-time answers from the palm of their hand.”
Meanwhile, Home Depot unveiled Magic Apron, an AI tool integrated into its website and app. It can provide how-to instructions, suggest products, summarize reviews, and soon, even offer design ideas and product comparisons—all with the expertise you’d expect from one of their orange-aproned associates. “The first-of-its-kind technology…is like having your trusted store associate on hand, delivering reliable, accurate answers,” says the team at Home Depot.
These AI helpers aren’t replacing store employees but rather bringing their knowledge straight to your screen. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a first-time DIYer, getting expert advice just got a whole lot easier…without having to wander the aisles in search of assistance.
