Name: Larry

Owner: Erin Whitmire

How’d you come up with the name? Larry was part of a litter of three so we named them Larry, Curly, and Moe. I love dogs with human names, so it stuck!

Nicknames: Every iteration of Bear you can imagine (Lar Bear, Larry Beary, Da Bear, etc.), and Sir.

Breed: Great Dane/German Shorthair Pointer

Gender: M

Age: 4

Favorite toys: All stuffed animals, especially his lamb. (Full disclosure: the “lamb” is really a llama, but Larry’s human was not smart enough to identify it until it was too late to correct 😉)

Likes: Belly rubs, (most) vegetables, hunting down the best sun rays, pulling squeakers out of toys.

Dislikes: Lettuce, rain, nail trims.

Most happy when: Cuddling up to watch TV – Ted Lasso is his favorite show.

Can he do any tricks? Larry does what Larry wants, so there are no “tricks” with him, but he’s very skilled at catching treats mid air.

What’s Larry’s favorite food? (Weirdly) Larry LOVES grapefruit.

How would you describe his personality? He is super chill, patient, and loyal (unless someone else has a treat, then all bets are off!)

What’s your favorite part about Larry? The way he dramatically flops onto his back for belly rubs.

What’s the naughtiest thing he has ever done? He stole a key fob, buried it behind a couch cushion, and proceeded to dismantle the entire couch trying to get the fob back.

What is his favorite spot in your home? He likes to lounge in front of the fireplace, but only if his snout is no more than three inches from the glass.

What’s the best memory you have with Larry? Luckily, the best memory with Larry keeps happening! He is the Puppy Whisperer and watching him teach tiny puppies how to dog is one of the best things I’ve ever seen.

What’s your favorite thing to do with him? I love to sit and share those sun rays with him.

What is your go-to neighborhood for walks? Right out the front door! We live off Highlands Square, a perfect dog walking neighborhood.

What’s the most rewarding part about being a pet owner? They remind us that life doesn’t have to be complicated to be awesome. Take of yourself and your loved ones, stop to smell the roses (and leaves, trees, burger wrappers, every blade of grass, and pee spots), and ALWAYS show your people how happy you are to see them.
