John Denver’s hit song Rocky Mountain High took on new meaning recently, when his former Aspen home was put on the market with an eye-catching price tag of $10.75 million.
The 6,000 square-foot home, featuring 6 bedrooms and 4-1/2 bathrooms, was listed for sale in August. The estate also boasts a 5-bedroom guesthouse that contains a recording studio, a caretaker’s house and 7.61 acres.
The current sellers acquired the home was acquired after Denver was tragically killed in a 1997 plane crash. It was slightly improved by the new owners, who installed a hot tub off of the kitchen and expanded the lawns.
But the estate still offers some of Denver’s personal signatures, including unique curving walls of stained glass in the master bedroom and custom woodwork in the kitchen cabinets. And of course, Denver knew how to appreciate the scenery: The property comes with stunning views of the mountains.
The home has increased in value through the years. The last purchase price, a mere $3.68 million, wasn’t quite as Rocky Mountain high as the current asking price.
