Fall-ing for Colorado: Your Autumn Bucket List

If Colorado had an official season, fall might just win by a pumpkin seed. The aspens put on their annual gold-medal performance, and suddenly everyone owns at least one flannel. Here’s a fall bucket list full of must-dos this season.

  1. Go Leaf Peeping: The fall color has officially made its way closer to Denver. Take a drive through some of the city’s tree-lined neighborhoods, wander through a local park, or just take the long way home. And if you end up with 47 nearly identical golden tree photos, that’s just part of the experience!
  2. Get Lost…on Purpose: Fall isn’t complete without wandering through a corn maze, taking a hayride, or finding the perfect pumpkin. Colorado’s farms really shine this time of year, with plenty of harvest festivals, pumpkin patches and family-friendly fun.
  3. Orchard Adventures Await: Nothing tastes quite as satisfying as an apple you picked yourself. Bonus points if you immediately turn it into pie (or at least dip it in caramel).
  4. Sip Something Seasonal: Whether your drink of choice is hot apple cider, locally made hard cider, a pumpkin ale, or an Oktoberfest lager, autumn is Colorado’s unofficial season of cozy beverages. Cheers to sweater weather!
  5. Take to the Sky: Add a little altitude to your autumn by riding the new Mighty ARGO Cable Car in Idaho Springs, where you’ll trade traffic for panoramic mountain views and a front-row seat to Colorado’s golden aspens.
  6. Find a Mountain Town Worth Lingering In: Grab lunch in Georgetown, browse the shops in Breckenridge, stroll historic Golden, or simply wander somewhere you’ve never stopped before. Fall is the perfect excuse for a spontaneous road trip.
  7. End the Day Around a Fire Pit: Roast marshmallows. Tell ghost stories. Debate whether s’mores count as dinner. (They absolutely do!)

Here’s the thing about Colorado fall: it doesn’t last long. One week you’re crunching through golden leaves, the next you’re scraping frost off your windshield. So, grab the scarf, order the cider, and start checking a few of these off before the aspens take their final bow. If you have a favorite fall activity to add to this list, we’d love to hear it!
