Summer Festivals in Denver Neighborhoods
Attending local festivals is a wonderful way to learn about Denver neighborhoods. You’ll meet local people, see the sights of the area, and discover what it has to offer. Here are some festivals held in Denver neighborhoods in the summer.
CAPITOL HILL
Date: June 7 and June 8
Time: 10 am to 8 pm and 10 am to 7 pm
Location: Civic Center Park
Over two days, the streets to Civic Center Park are closed to that a street fair can take place. The fair has dozens of musical acts, arts and crafts vendors. interesting exhibits, and local food. It is a family-friendly fair and a must-see summer event for most of the people of Denver.

Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods Snack Attack

Location: 1st to 22nd Avenues, Capitol Hill district
Food trucks are the latest craze, and this is a food truck festival to please everyone’s cravings. There are a lot of gastronomy adventures to be had here. Plus, there’s live music! How could you go wrong? You will definitely want to bring the kids out for this one.

CHEESMAN PARK
Date: July 27 and 28
Time: 10 am to 5 pm
Location: Chessman Park
This festival will give locals the chance to see what area artisans of all kinds have to offer. Wares are for sale, too. Shop at your leisure for beautiful art and artisanal products while enjoying scrumptious fare from area food trucks.

CHERRY CREEK
Date: July 4, 5, and 6
Time: All day
Location: Cherry Creek North Shopping District
This festival is for the entire family. With lots of different foods to try, interactive exhibits, artworks on display, and performing arts of all kinds to watch, there is something here to offer everyone.

CITY PARK
Date: 10 weeks spanning June, July, and August
Time: 6 pm to 8 pm
Location: City Park
Every Sunday for 10 weeks in the summer, City Park plays host to a musical acts of all kinds. The concerts are free, and always family friendly. It’s a great way to get outside and enjoy some quality time with the best local music in Denver.

Time: 10 am to 8 pm
Location: Denver City Park West
Complete with live music, a parade, visual arts, a garden, and a car show, this is a celebration of all the art mediums the black community of Denver has to offer. There is also a scavenger hunt, dancing, and plenty of food. Family friendly and free, this is an event that is not to be missed.

DOWNTOWN DENVER
Date: June 28 and June 29
Time: 10 am – 10 pm and 10 am – 6 pm
Location: Confluence Park
Sponsored by the Greenway Foundation, this two-day celebration of Denver’s urban waterways has free admission and free water activities, including paddle board lessons. Food and beverages will be for sale, with all proceeds going to the Foundation. Everyone is welcome!

Location: 16th Street Pedestrian Mall
This is the best arts and crafts festival in downtown Denver, located in one of the best known Denver neighborhoods. Stroll the 16th Street pedestrian mall and shop with local artists and designers of all kinds. These are all one of a kind, handmade goods, so you can feel good about supporting local art and buying locally produced merchandise.

FIVE POINTS
Date: June 14
Time: 4 pm until it’s done
Location: 26th Avenue and Welton Street
Come out to one of the finest of Denver neighborhoods and enjoy a full-scale battle of the bands, a Juneteenth parade, a pageant, a car show, and a youth engagement area for kids. This is one festival the whole family will want to come out and enjoy, and there is something here for everyone from little kids to grandparents.

HIGHLANDS
Date: June 14
Time: 12 pm to 10 pm
Location: 2219 W. 32nd Ave., Denver, CO 80211
This is a one day outdoor music event that is the equivalent of Denver’s own Woodstock. The exception is that it is suitable for all ages, so bring the kids. Enjoy a day outdoors listening to some amazing local bands, eating local food, and dressing up like it’s the 1960’s!

A true street fair that everyone can enjoy regardless of age, this smashing event has it all. Food, drinks, arts, crafts, vendors selling their wares, a car show, live music, and a fun area just for kids all ensure that you and your whole family will be well entertained all day.

Location: Highlands Square (32nd & Osceola)
Come to the second annual Taste of Highlands, featuring fine cuisine from the restaurants and specialty merchants of Highlands Square. Live music and a Beer & Wine Garden are sure to cement this event’s status as a permanent Denver tradition.

PLATT PARK
Date: July 14
Time: 12 pm to 10 pm
Location: The 1200 block of Old South Pearl Street
A mix of icy cold beer and really awesome eclectic music, this festival is one that is sure to interest adults. It is a wonderful time to get together with your neighbors (or venture into a new neighborhood to meet some new friends) and have an amazing time!

Annual Antique Row Summer Neighborhood Block Party
Date: August 9
Time: 10 am – 6 pm
Location: Antique Row on Lower Broadway
This free event, courtesy of local merchants, will feature antique appraisals, food tastings from area restaurants, and face painting for the kids. Bring the whole family along for a day of fun browsing and entertainment.

RIVER NORTH (RiNo)
Date: June 28 and 29
Time: 12 pm to 6 pm
Location: Downtown Denver River North District
It’s a celebration of tacos! Eating tacos of all variations, drinking, and dancing are all part of the Denver Taco Festival. There are also some other interesting activities, such as a bike show, salsa wars, and Chihuahua racing. This is one of the trendiest Denver neighborhoods, and you’ll want to check out the festival for the amazing variety of tacos alone!

Final Friday Music Walk & Bazaar
Date: June 27, July 25 and August 29
Time: Performance times vary
Location: North Larimer, from Broadway to 37th Street
May 30th kicked off the 2014 summer season for this live music festival held on three stages. In between, local artisans hold a bazaar selling handcrafted items. Thousands of people are expected to attend each live music event, and the whole family is welcome.
Advance tickets to the event, which include access to the drink tents and one complimentary cocktail, are $15. The price jumps to $25 on the day of the event.

SLOAN’S LAKE
Date: July 19 and 20
Time: 8 am to 5 pm
Location: Sloan’s Lake
Celebrating the Asian American community in Denver, the annual Dragon Boat Festival features dragon boat racing, cheering for your favorite boat or team, and prizes. It is a wonderful day on the lake for the whole family to enjoy, and to learn something new about the Asian community, too.

Denver Arts Festival at Sloan’s Lake
Date: August 9 and 10
Time: 9:30 am to 7 pm the 9th and 9:30 am to 3 pm the 10th, with a 6 pm to 8 pm concert on the 9th
Location: Sloan’s Lake Park
With plenty of live music and food to fuel your day, you will enjoy walking the park and browsing the stalls of the many local artisan vendors who come out to sell their handmade wares for this festival. You’ll see some amazing works of art, and may just pick up a unique piece or two for yourself. The concert under the stars the first day of the festival is also not to be missed.

STAPLETON
Date: July 19
Time: 4 pm to 8 pm
Location: The Green at 29th and Roslyn Streets
Featuring a free concert and a home brewing competition, this is a festival that is sure to please adults. With plenty of locally brewed beers to sample, it’s bound to be a good evening for one and all. Some local food trucks will even be there!
